Vocational Students Attend Biggest Skills Show in Kenya

Vocational Field Trip

In February 2019, our Vocational students traveled to Nairobi to attend Kenya's biggest skills show - Hands on the Future Kenya Skills Show 2019 - which was attended by over 20,000 young people from across the country. The theme of the show was #JijengeNaSkills (Build yourself through skills) - a vision we subscribe to here at Jitegemee. Look who’s moving on in 2019!

Last year was a big one for so many of our students and parents who took their education and self-empowerment to the next level! The end of primary school marks an important point in the academic careers of many Kenyan students. At the end of the school year, students take the pivotal Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exam. Such Wonder – A Field Trip to Lake Nakuru

In October 2018, students from our 14th Vocational Program class left Machakos for their first field trip. They headed to Lake Nakuru National Park on the annual field trip, but it wouldn’t be just the animals and beautiful landscapes that amazed them. Students gathered at the Huduma Center bus station in Machakos Town hours before the bus even arrived. Muthina’s #JitegemeeDream

In 2017, we launched our #JitegemeeDream series, an online visual storytelling initiative that we are continuing and expanding in 2018. 2017 University Graduate - John Kiluma - graduated from Cooperative University of Kenya with a BCom with a 2nd Class Upper. We are so proud of John for coming so far!

“Today is the first day I am celebrating an event in my entire life. I have never celebrated any event in my life; not even a birthday,” John Kiluma told Jitegemee staff at his graduation from Cooperative University of Kenya on 1 December, 2017. John joined Jitegemee in 2009 when he was in Class 8, and it was soon clear he was a hard-working, bright student.
