Jitegemee Mourns Myron Kaplan

Jitegemee mourns Myron Kaplan.

The Jitegemee family is deeply saddened by the passing of Myron Kaplan, one of the most generous and loyal supporters of the children in our program. Mr. Kaplan believed in Jitegemee from the very beginning and was crucial to the organization’s growth and trajectory in its earliest days. His daughter Amelia  became was a founding board member and traveled to Machakos to see our work first-hand during its early years. The loyal support of Myron and his wife Dr. Annette Hollander helped it turn into the successful program that it is today. More than a thousand children have been educated and mastered the skills necessary to get a job because of their love and support. Without the Kaplans, Jitegemee might still be a dream.

To thank them, in 2020, the teachers of Jitegemee decided to permanently honor their contribution by naming the place where students and their guardians learn business skills to be economically self-sufficient the “Kaplan Family Foundation Youth Hub.” They ordered a plaque and held a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Myron’s wisdom, friendship and generosity will live on forever in the hearts of the children whose lives he has touched.

His memory will always be a blessing to us.
