A Conversation with Jitegemee – Looking Forward

Over the past few years, our students and their families in Machakos, Kenya have been navigating challenges that were compounded by the COVID-19 pandemic.

On May 13, 2023 Jennifer Katiwa (Director), Joshua Muema (School Support Manager), and Veronicah Kioko (Economic Empowerment Officer) shared their perspectives about how we have not just survived these challenging times, but how our children and families have shown extraordinary resilience and are thriving. In the video below, you will also hear directly from some of our students, parents, and graduates about their experience being part of the Jitegemee family.

Listen to Ruth’s story about the business she started after graduating from Jitegemee’s Street Business School program.
“Tubonge” means “Let’s Talk” and the Tubonge Clinics at Jitegemee provide young people to do exactly that: talk with their peers and counselors about issues related to sexual and reproductive health.
Grace received support from Jitegemee for her educational journey from the time she was in elementary school. Last year, Grace graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business and IT from Kiriri Women’s University. She currently serves as Jitegemee’s Operations Intern and is giving back to the Jitegemee community.
