Congratulations to Faith and Catherine – our girls-in-tech graduates!
Last year, Faith and Catherine, two students in our Youth Hub, started their journey at AkiraChix #CodeHive2022 to pursue their goal of becoming Software Engineers. Codehive is a one-year fully sponsored residential hands-on technical training program run by AkiraChix. It provides education and economic opportunities to young women between 18 and 24 years from underserved communities who have completed high school education but are unable to further their education due to financial constraints.
The Jitegemee team is so proud that Faith and Catherine were selected as part of the 2022 AkiraChix cohort. As part of this cohort, Faith and Catherine acquired tech skills that will serve them as they move into the job market. In December 2022, Jitegemee staff went to celebrate our girls’ achievement at their graduation ceremony hosted at AkiraChix’s campus in Nairobi. Both girls graduated with a Diploma in Information Technology.
This is a new partnership between Jitegemee and AkiraChix. AkiraChix provides young women with technology and entrepreneurship skills so they can compete in the workforce. Another goal of AkiraChix is to bridge the gender gap in tech.
We look forward to continuing this partnership and seeing more of our girls learning these valuable 21st Century tech skills.
