Jitegemee’s first Open Day held on April 21, 2017, was a huge success and we welcomed more than 250 guests to celebrate at our campus! Our students, alumni, staff, parents, mentors, Â and Board Chair Terry Mutuku gave powerful presentations about the role Jitegemee has played in providing a better future for our students. These presentations were interspersed by poetry and musical performances by our students, concluding with a rousing joint performance with local musicians Mtu Saba and Kyalo Maingi.
We welcomed guests who ranged from our guest of honor, Assistant County Commissioner Lydia Wambui, to other government representatives from the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Information, the Children’s Department, to church representatives, school headteachers, program partners and suppliers, and even a group of students from Machakos Girls Rescue Centre.
We ended the day with a delicious meal prepared by our cook, parents and new catering students. Many thanks to all who joined us and made the day a success! Enjoy these photos that tell the colorful story of our first Open Day. Photos by Fungai Tichawangana.
