On 1 December, 2016, also World AIDS Day, we were thrilled to welcome Jitegemee alumni for our first ever Annual Alumni Day! More than 75 graduates of our vocational, primary, secondary and college programs met with Jitegemee team members and current students, and many gave accounts of how the program changed the course of their lives for the better. A small group of graduates volunteered to form Jitegemee’s first Alumni Advisory Board. This group will meet throughout the year and advise Jitegemee staff on programming.

We had graduates from as far back as 2000, and from as recently as 2016. Our most recent college graduate, Mirriam Matibo, said this:
“From primary school up to university, Jitegemee provided me with everything – school fees, uniform, shoes, books – I never lacked anything. And have achieved my dream of being a university graduate. I am grateful – Jitegemee, keep it up!”
We had many graduates – some of them with their own children – tell us how far they have come since they received support from Jitegemee. Many have opened their own businesses, most are working and earning and supporting their families and communities in ways they couldn’t imagine when they were children.
All of them had one thing to say: “Thank You Jitegemee!!!”
