It’s school holidays right now, but that doesn’t mean the learning stops. From 16-19 August, Jitegemee Class 11 and 12 vocational students participated in a 4-day training on sexual and reproductive health.
Students actively listened and contributed to sessions with Duncan Ogendi Oginda, who works for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees. Duncan had the students laughing, thinking, learning – sometimes all at the same time!
The sessions focused on the importance of communication, interpersonal relationships, contraception and sexually transmitted diseases, such as HIV/AIDS.
At the close of the training, our students said they’d learnt a lot and felt much better equipped to negotiate issues related to sexual health. They also said they hoped Duncan would do a follow-up training with them sometime soon!
