Jitegemee attends Segal Family Foundation Annual Meeting

IMG_2007

Mike Kimeu, Jitegemee Program Director and Verity Norman-Tichawangana, Executive Director attended the Segal Family Foundation (SFF) Annual Meeting in Kampala, Uganda from 10-13 August, 2016. The gathering included all (approx.) 200 SFF partners, as well as a number of other donors or friends of SFF who support similar initiatives.

For the past three years, Jitegemee has received funding support from SFF and this year in addition to the regular funding, we received a $25,000 matching grant in new funding for organizational capacity development. We are delighted that halfway into the year we have reached this goal, and are grateful for SFF’s ongoing support.

The Annual Meeting was an opportunity for SFF partners to meet each other, get to know more about each others work and explore opportunities for collaboration. It’s also Segal’s way of encouraging partners to pause and reflect on their work, and to return refreshed, inspired and better equipped to their respective projects.

There were numerous high-level keynote presentations – by the Ugandan Minister of Housing; Opening address by Graca Machel, widow of Mozambican Prime Minister Samora Machel and widow of Nelson Mandela; by Emmanuel Jal (former child-soldier turned rapper from South Sudan) We also heard from and met up with numerous SFF partners who shared great ideas related to our work, and opened up possibilities for future engagement.

Thank you Segal Family Foundation for an inspiring three days!
