Empowering Machakos Women: The Matuu Child Care Centre

The Matuu Child Care Centre, a groundbreaking initiative in Machakos County, is empowering women by providing affordable and reliable childcare services. This collaborative effort between the Machakos County Government, the Women Economic Empowerment Hub – University of Nairobi, and Jitegemee is transforming the lives of women and their families. For just Ksh. 50 a day, the Centre provides a safe and stimulating environment for children, where they can learn and grow under the guidance of trained caregivers and teachers. This allows mothers to pursue their economic activities with peace of mind, knowing that their children are in good hands.

This vital facility serves as an anchor for “Mama Mbogas” and countless other women who aspire to engage in economic activities but are traditionally hindered by childcare responsibilities. The Centre provides a safe, nurturing environment where children thrive, allowing their mothers to pursue their livelihoods with peace of mind. By providing affordable childcare, the Matuu Child Care Centre removes a major barrier to women’s economic participation. This allows women to engage in income-generating activities, such as farming, trading, and small businesses, which not only improves their financial well-being but also contributes to the overall economic development of the county.

At Matuu Child Care Centre, the provision of quality childcare is paramount to fostering healthy development. Access to age-appropriate play and learning materials stimulates cognitive growth, encouraging exploration and discovery. Equally crucial is the focus on nutrition and growth; consistent, balanced meals ensure children receive the necessary nutrients for physical development and overall well-being. This holistic approach, combining educational stimulation with attentive nutritional care, lays a strong foundation for the children’s future, promoting both mental and physical resilience.

The Matuu Child Care Centre is a model for sustainable development, demonstrating the power of collaboration between government, academia, and civil society to address critical social and economic challenges. This initiative is not only empowering women but also creating a brighter future for their children and the entire community.

Don’t let childcare be a barrier to your economic potential. Enroll your children at the Matuu Child Care Centre today and unlock a world of opportunities. For a nominal fee of just Ksh. 50, you can entrust your little ones to our dedicated team of caregivers and teachers, allowing you to focus on building your business, expanding your skills, and securing a brighter future for your family.
